Traveling around the island

The distance between the airport and Costa Calma is 66 km, around 50 minutes’ drive. Take FV-2 road (direction Morro Jable). It is possible to rent a car at the airport, it costs around 130 euro for 7 days (for a two-year-old Seat Leon with accident and theft insurance). A taxi from the airport to Costa Calma costs around 50 euro. Be sure to hail a taxi from a designated taxi rank and avoid carriers coming from other places. There is also a bus connection between the airport and Costa Calma, bus no. 10 (direction Morro Jable) operates 4 times a day Monday to Friday, 3 times a day on Saturdays and twice a day on Saundays and holidays, it costs around 8 euro.

Major roads can be found on the more accessible east coast and in the centre of the island. The FV-2 road runs through Costa Calma and along the east coast from Morro Jable through La Lajita (Oasis Park), Tarajalejo with a city beach, the Caleta de Fuste resort, the Aeropuerto de Fuerteventura airport and up to the capital city Puerto del Rosario. FV-1/FV-1A is an extension of the FV-2 road and it runs to the north of the island and up to Corralejo. The FV-4 side road leads to the Gran Tarajal port. There is a network of minor roads running to the centre of the island (direction Antigua i Pájara). The rocky west coast is less accessible, only local roads are available there.

Bus lines in Costa Calma: no. 01 from Morro Jable through Antigua to Puerto del Rosario (operates 20 times a day Monday to Friday, 18 times a day on Saturdays, 13 times a day on Sundays), no. 04 from Morro Jable to Pájara (operates once a day everyday), no. 05 to Morro Jable (operates 7 times a day Monday to Saturday, 5 times a day on Sundays), no. 09 from Morro Jable through Gran Tarajal to Pájara (operates once a day everyday), no. 10 from Morro Jable through the airport to Puerto del Rosario and no. 25 from Morro Jable to La Lajita (operates twice a day Monday to Friday, 4 times a day on the weekends).
